We are incredibly proud of all the work that went into developing our Nova Sea Atlantic Sea Cucumber Capsules. We have seen a spike in demand as people seek better wellness products in the recent months, says Songwen (Sam) GAO, President at AKSO Marine Biotech Inc.

What Is The Retail Council of Canada Grand Prix New Product Awards?

Now entering its 27th year, the Retail Council of Canada’s Grand Prix New Product Awards is a consumer-focused annual awards program. The Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards celebrates advancement and excellence in new food distribution industry products to further encourage manufacturer innovation and to profile continued value to consumers.

The Canadian Grand Prix Advisory Council features an experienced group of food retailing merchants and members from within the vendor/supplier community. The Council helps review the product categories and provides real-world industry guidance to improve our evaluation criteria.

What are Process and Evaluation?

Judges are hand-selected volunteers from key media, retail and supplier member sources. Procedures and guidelines are set to ensure that the chosen products are evaluated fairly.

  1. The Grand Prix Jury tests food and non-food products and each product is rated into four categories based on submitted samples and information provided when the product is submitted.
  2. Jury members are asked to rate each category out of 25 points and provide specific feedback for every product.
  3. Participants can take this feedback with the opportunity to develop their product and marketing.
  4. From there, products that receive a rating of 70% or more qualify as a finalist! Winners in each category are awarded at The Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards Gala.

When evaluating a new product, the four categories are equally considered:

  • Innovation
  • Product Characteristics
  • Presentation and Packaging
  • Overall Consumer Value

The Retail Council of Canada will commence producing a finalist showcase flyer that all finalist products will be included in one of the editions. The winners will be announced later this summer, so stay tuned for a virtual celebration on the Retail Council of Canada’s website or follow the hashtag #RCCFinalist2020 on social media.
