AKSO Marine Biotech Inc., founded in 1983, is a leading dry sea cucumber processing company, one of very few with a long history in Canada. Since 2016, AKSO has been focusing on research and development of bioactive ingredients and natural health products from wild caught Atlantic sea cucumber (Cucumaria frondosa) and other marine materials, which are obtained and processed in a natural and sustainable manner.
AKSO is located in Hacketts Cove, Nova Scotia, where Atlantic Sea Cucumber Ltd. processes the best wild Canadian sea cucumber caught fresh from the coastal waters of Nova Scotia, Canada. Taking advantage of a shared facility, AKSO can product high quality ingredients from the first-class raw materials that have been deep frozen from the moment it was caught to maintain freshness.

Our talent team has an extensive background in the field of research, development and production of bioactive ingredients from marine origins. Our multidisciplinary researchers ranging from chemists, biologists to marketing experts bring together advancing extraction and purification technologies, human physiology knowledge, industry regulatory affairs, as well as marketing strategies.
Dr. Guangling Jiao, who holds a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, has been at the forefront of the research and development of sea cucumber products. She has over ten years experience on preparation, characterization and bioactivities screening of natural products from marine origins. She joined AKSO as R&D Manager in 2018 to lead team to develop bioactive ingredients from Atlantic sea cucumbers.
